back in dc: babies & barbecue
This was year 2 of visiting DC in May for Memorial Day weekend. Last year, I went back for my 5th year college reunion; next year, we’ll return for Taylor’s 10th year college reunion! Time flies!
But this year, we visited just to reconnect with friends, get a break from the Miami heat, and go back to our favourite restaurants (Bayou Bakery and Dumplings & Beyond). We got to see a new baby, say hi to the pandas at the National Zoo, and tour the beautiful Hillwood Estate. Ariadne is about a year older than Luke, but they’re practically the same size! They enjoyed meeting each other for the first time.
Of course, we also made the required visit to our alma mater, Georgetown University, and I took some “graduation photos” of Ariadne (only 21 years early!).

Although I didn’t really expect May in DC to be too hot, it was actually a bit cold— especially coming from Miami. Still, we ended the three day weekend with a Memorial Day barbecue!
The cool morning turned out to be quite pleasant by midday, and did finally get to be a proper summer welcome. Plus, Ariadne got to visit several playgrounds in the area, climbed up (and down) 1000000 stairs, and went down 5000 slides :P
All in all, a wonderful trip! Looking forward to next year— and a last minute trip back to DC at the end of this month too lol.
